RACE DAY! I woke up today feeling tired for some reason, despite having slept 8 hours a night or more for the past few nights. I was like that all day...stuck in "second gear" and not quite there. I woke up probably 1 hour before my race, maybe from all the adrenaline in the air from the runners around me. Either way, it was nice to wake up a little bit. I warmed up for 17 or so minutes plus line drills and strides. I felt VERY loose afterwards, which was a nice feeling that I had not experienced before. Entering the race, I realized it was going to be filled with fast people. My goal for this race was just to remain conscious for the whole thing--to be aware of everything that was happening and not zone out. Concentration. For 16 laps. My time wasn't spectacular, 11:30, though I wanted to run that so that was nice. My splits...probably less than spectacular as well, with a 5:40-5:50 positive split and definitely a mess towards the 2/3rds part of the race. Nonetheless, I felt I kept my head in the race more; I concentrated on the runners around me (I had this nice indian run with this Needham guy laps 3-7 or so). I wish I saw the norwood runner 4 seconds ahead of me though! i had no idea he was that close (having heard he could run sub 11). Thanks to John for pacing me the last 2 laps and running an extra lap. Next time we'll shoot for 11:10 or so and do it the right way! 22 minute cool down. Fun day. Pretty sore from shoveling + racing...the long run tomorrow will hopefully help.
Waking Pulse: I'm worried I can't be accurate about these because I wake up in the morning all excited to go to school / in shock because I might be late sometimes when I wake up.
Punch Buggy Status: 11-16 (I'm just going to round up for simplicity)
